16.06.2006 The Netherlands is known as a country with a good chess climate. First of all there is the Corus Chess Tournament (next edition is 13-28 January 2007). In the summer three other important tournaments are on the agenda: The Amsterdam Chess Tournament (15-23 July 2006), The Dutch Open Championship (24 July – 3 August 2006), and The Hogeschool Zeeland Chess Tournament (5 – 12 August 2006). When you have a lot of energy you can play 27 games in 29 days. You will have rest and travel days on 24 and 30 July and 4 August; on 6 August you will play 2 games. Don’t forget to come back 20-28 October to play the Essent Tournament in Hoogeveen. In this report we provide you a Survey of the Top 7 Weekend Tournaments in the Netherlands: in Leiden, Zwolle, Bussum, Utrecht, Haarlem, Tilburg and Apeldoorn.
