Jan Timman
Sigeman & Co 2006
Dutch Top GM Jan Timman (1951) is struggling to win back a position among the best of the world. His current position is number 100 on the
FIDE TOP 100 Players April 2006. His Elo is 2616. After losing too much points in Reykjavik, the German and the Dutch Club Competition, he now has won back 11 points, which is not (yet) enough to be in the TOP 100 in the July list.
Jan Timman will not be a member of the Dutch Olympiad team because of being in the
Advisory Support team of Bessel Kok / Ali Nihat Yazici in Turin.
Sigeman & Co’s history goes back to 1993, which makes 14 tournaments. Timman was invited 7 times. Considering this fact and seeing next table one can conclude that the Dutch GM and Malmö go well together. By the way Jonny Hector participated 12 times.

His move 35…Qc6 in his round 5 victory over Slavko Cicak was called the finest move of the tournament by
chess journalist Peter Doggers.
