Mamedyarov wins Hoogeveen
07.11.2006 The Essent 2006 Crown Group was won by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (AZE) with 4.5/6 points. Second became Judit Polgar (HUN), also on 4.5 points. Former World Champion Veselin Topalov (BUL) scored 2.0/3 in the second half of the tournament finishing on 2.5 points. Ivan Sokolov (NED) disappointed scoring 0.5/6 points. The Open Group was won by Topalov’s second Ivan Cheparinov (BUL) with 7.0/9 points. Second became Jan Werle (NED), also on 7.0 points. Four players shared the third prize: Evgeny Postny (ISR), Michail Brodsky (UKR), Mikhail Gurevich (TUR) and Alexander Goloshchapov (UKR) on 6.5 points.
