Hoogeveen – Essential People

08.11.2006 The 10th Essent Chess tournament was the strongest and most interesting in history. Mamedyarov, the 2005 World Junior Champion, won the Crown Group. The winners of 10 years Hoogeveen: Emil Sutovsky (1997), Judit Polgar (1998), Jan Timman, (1999), Alexander Khalifman (2000), Judit Polgar & Loek Van Wely (2001), Peter Acs (2002), Judit Polgar (2003), Ivan Sokolov (2004), Pentala Harikrishna (2005), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (2006). The Essent Chess tournament has grown into one of the most important chess events on the current Dutch chess calendar. In this report we provide you with a lot of photos (by Frits Agterdenbos), mostly portraits of players in the Open Group.
