Remco Heite Chess Tournament 2006
27.11.2006 Loek Van Wely showed superior strength in the Invitation Group of the Remco Heite Chess Tournament, a new tournament, which took place 24 – 26 November in Wolvega (Netherlands). Participants in the Invitation Group, a six player Round-Robin, were the Dutch Loek Van Wely, Jan Timman, Jan Werle and the Non-Dutch Artur Yusupov, Robert Hübner, Vlastimil Hort. Time control: 105 minutes for first 35 moves + 15 minutes to finish. Loek Van Wely exercised the winner’s call option buying a horse to take home. The Open Group (9 rounds, including 4 GMs and 3 IMs) was won by Erik Van Den Doel, scoring 8.5/9, performance rating 2824. Time control in this group: 45 minutes for the entire game. The Remco Heite Chess Tournament will be held two-yearly.
