Corus Chess 2007 Round 1
13.01.2007 Round 1 was played on Saturday 13 January 01.30 PM. In group A Teimour Radjabov was the only one to win a game (against Loek Van Wely). The other games were drawn. In Group B Jan Smeets won the expert prize (EUR 250), awarded by commentator Ivan Sokolov, for gaining the victory over Gabriel Sargissian. In Group C Zhaoqin Peng missed a mate in three. John Van Der Wiel saved half a point. The two Chinese players did well today. Both Bu Xiangzhi and Hou Yifan won their games. The Dutch squadron (14 players) scored minus 4: 0.5/2 in A + 2.0/5 in B + 2.5/7 in C = 5.0/14. Tomorrow 14 January Nadezhda Kosintseva (1985) will turn 22.
