Corus Chess 2007 Closing Ceremony
30.01.2007 The Closing Ceremony of the 69th Corus Chess Tournament took place Sunday 28 January in the Chess Pavillion in Wijk aan Zee. Corus people, players, seconds, partners, organizers, journalists and guest of honour former world champion Anatoly Karpov… they all joined the party. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the Grandmaster Groups: Topalov, Aronian and Radjabov (A), Eljanov (B) and Krasenkow (C). In the meanwhile, maybe even more important, the 64th Pea Soup Dinner (the first dinner was in 1943) took place. The tournament is full of traditions. The 70th edition of the tournament will take place 11-27 January 2008. As Corus will probably be taken over within a few days, likely by Tata (India) or CSN (Brazil), the question is what the name of the tournament in 2008 will be.
