Chess Olympiad Round 2

23.05.2006 Round 2 was played on Monday 22 May at 03.00 p.m. In the Men’s section Russia (as in round 1 with Grischuk, Morozevich, Bareev and Rublevsky) defeated Latvia 4-0. Russia is on the maximum score with 8 game points. Runners-up are Poland, Greece, Serbia & Montenegro, and Germany with 7,5 game points, followed by a group of 9 countries (Netherlands, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Iceland, Turkey, Slovakia, Vietnam, China and Australia) with 7 game points. Hosting country Italy is represented with 3 teams. Italy A is on 5 games points, Italy B is on 4,5 and Italy C is on 4. Morozevich' victory over Miezis was called the Game of the Day by the Olympiad Bulletin Turin Moves.
