Corus Chess 2008 Opening Ceremony
11.01.2008 The Opening Ceremony of the 70th Corus Chess Tournament (‘Wijk aan Zee’) took place on Friday 11 January in the Dudok House in Velsen-Noord. The tournament will be held 12-27 January. Group A will show the Big Three (world champion Anand, Kramnik, Topalov). The pairings in Group A, round 1 are: Kramnik – Van Wely, Radjabov – Anand, Mamedyarov – Carlsen, Eljanov – Leko, Adams – Gelfand, Aronian – Topalov, Ivanchuk – Polgar. Good news for the chess world: Corus announced that the Corus Chess Tournament is guaranteed till 2013 (75th edition). The Elo sum of Groups A,B and C is 110,099 (2007: 109,279).
