Corus Chess 2008 - Hey, that's me! on ChessVista
01.02.2008 An incredible strong tournament, that is how most people Corus Chess 2008 will remember. Corus Chess 2008 was even more than that. Thanks to the many side events (amateur groups) the tournament is also a mass chess event attracting players of all levels. The Weekend-three-round events attracted more than 500 players and the Weekday-three-round events attracted more than 300 players. In the Nine-round events more than 600 players participated. Nine-round event 1A was won by IM Frank Holzke and Nine-round event 1B was won by IM Manuel Bosboom. Holzke and Bosboom promote to Corus Chess 2009 Group C. The Rapid tournament (around 100 participants in two groups) was won by IM Bernd Schneider. The Blitz Tournament Arbiters Corus Chess (17 participants) was won by IM Pavel Votruba, followed by Joost Jansen. Today’s report provides some photos of the amateur groups. Maybe you can recognize yourself. Maybe you can say: “Hey, that's me! on ChessVista”.
