Valentine poem for C
2008-02-14 ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ is what we say today to our beloved ones. It is the day we want to reach the ones we love, sometimes the unreachable love. As chess is often without words, the chess player, even more than others, needs ways to tell his world is bigger than a board with pieces. The chess player wants to say you are the only chess piece that really counts, you are my flower on the board. We send a card, a flower. Maybe we will write a poem. This moment, it is you. I have been hunting you so much. Sometimes I see you, but I can not capture you. Your face, your look. This moment, it is you… Chess photographer Frits Agterdenbos has written a poem (Portrait of C, 14 February 2008). Inspired by his love for the people in the world of Chess. Inspired by his wish to get a true picture of the chess player.
Portrait of C
This moment, it is you.
I have been hunting you so much.
Sometimes I see you, but I can not capture you.
Your face, your look.
This moment, it is you.
Yes!
This is the portrait I want to take.
Give me truth.
Give me rest.
Where is my camera?
This is the portrait I want to take.
No!
You will change your look.
As soon as you see my camera.
I can be fast, but will I be fast enough?
You are the unreachable truth.
You will change your look.
This moment, it is you.
You are the truth.
I don’t want to forget.
Let this moment always be with me.
This moment, it is you.
You are my C.
You are my Caissa.
