ChessVista.com is the website of chess photographer Frits Agterdenbos. The site provides the international chess community with high quality chess photos and chess news of chess players from international chess events. There will be visual reports and an album with chess photo collections showing all the visual aspects of the chess world.
16.03.2008 The Hypercube Blitz Chess Tournament 2008 (rate of play: 5 minutes per person per game) took place on Saturday 15 March in Utrecht (Netherlands). The event was organised by Chess Club Utrecht and sponsored by Hypercube Business Innovation. The tournament attracted 128 participants including 9 GMs (Daniel Fridman 2627, Vadim Malakhatko 2600, Felix Levin 2563, Stanislav Savchenko 2558, Michael Feygin 2554, Alexandre Dgebuadze 2512, Mihail Saltaev 2502, Harmen Jonkman 2438, Dennis De Vreugt 2390) and 7 IMs. The first part of the tournament was the qualification phase in which the participants were divided in 8 qualifying groups (all play all) to qualify for the final groups in the second part of the tournament, the final phase. Final group A: 8 numbers one + 8 numbers two + 4 numbers three, making 20 players in total. Prize money in Final Group A (20 player all play all): 1000 euro (first prize), 600, 250, 100, 50. GM
Daniel Fridman won the 1000 euro first prize on 15.5/19 points, followed by GM Vadim Malakhatko on 15.0 points and IM Andrey Orlov on 13.0 points. The Dutch blitz specialist IM Manuel Bosboom finished fourth. Big photo report with portraits of all 20 final group A players by Frits Agterdenbos.

The 8 numbers three of the 8 qualifying groups had to play a play off (one Armageddon game). The four winners (Malakhatko, Bosboom, Karstens and Bogoevski) also qualified for the final group A.
