Chess Olympiad Round 5
26.05.2006 Round 5 was played on Thursday 25 May at 03.00 p.m. In the Men’s section the top 5 encounters ended in 2-2, like Russia (Kramnik, Svidler, Grischuk, Morozevich) versus Armenia (Aronian, Akopian, Asrian, Sargissian), Uzbekistan (Kasimdzhanov, Gareyev, Iuldachev, Kayumov) versus Netherlands (Sokolov, Tiviakov, Van Wely, Van Den Doel), Spain versus Sweden, Ukraine versus Bulgaria and India versus China. So there was no real change at the top. Russia and Armenia are on 15,5 points. Netherlands is on 15,0 points. Uzbekistan is fourth on 14,5 points. In the Women’s section Ukraine defeated Russia 2-1 (Zhukova-Kosteniuk 1-0). The rank after round 5 is: 1.Russia 12,5 2.Ukraine 12,0 3.Hungary 11,5.
This is all the information we need… Let’s see, 31 May… that is the night before a rest day, that is convenient.
