11.04.2008 The Dutch Chess Championship 2008 Round 9 took place Friday 11 April. Daniël Stellwagen (draw against Daan Brandenburg), Erwin L’Ami (victory over Jan-Willem De Jong) and Jan Smeets (draw against Yge Visser) lead with 6.0 points. The trio is followed by three players with 5.5. points: Sergei Tiviakov, Sipke Ernst and Dimitri Reinderman. Friso Nijboer and Yge Visser follow with 5.0 points. With two rounds to go anything can happen. Eight players have chances to become champion. In the women championship round 7 was scheduled. Zhaoqin Peng (who defeated Anne Haast) leads with 6.5 points, followed by Petra Schuurman (who defeated Bianca Muhren) with 6.0 points. Tea Lanchava (who defeated Marlies Bensdorp) is on third place with 4.5 points. Three players have chances to win the title. The final rounds are on Saturday and Sunday.
