European Champion Sergei Tiviakov's Homecoming
05.05.2008 European Champion Sergei Tiviakov was given a warm greeting by the Dutch Chess Federation when he arrived at Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) on Sunday 4 May. Dutch Chess Federation Board Members Monique Stam and Michiel Bosman, and Koos Stolk of the Dutch Chess Federation Office were present at the airport to congratulate the champion. Your photographer Frits Agterdenbos was lucky to join in the coffee and apple pie party and made a photo impression. The European Individual Chess Championships took place 20th April - 4th May 2008 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Sergei Tiviakov won gold. The silver medal was for Sergei Movsesian and the bronze medal was won by Sergey Volkov. In the women’s section the winners were Kateryna Lahno (gold), Viktorija Cmilyte (silver) and Anna Ushenina (bronze).
