06.07.2009 The Intomart GfK Open took place 27 June – 5 July 2009 in Hilversum, Netherlands. Daniel Fridman won the tournament on best Buchholz score, after he, Michal Krasenkow, Stewart Haslinger and Predrag Nikolic tied on 6.5/9. The four GMs each won a quarter of (3000 + 1800 + 1000 + 700) = 1625 euros. Friso Nijboer, Erwin L’Ami, Wouter Spoelman, Dimitri Reinderman and Milos Pavlovic followed on half a point. Anish Giri, who didn’t play his R7 game (versus Fridman) due to illness, finished on 5.5 points. The tournament attracted 140 participants: 48 participants (including 10 GMs, who took places 1-10 in the final rank) in the main group (Group A, elo > 2100), plus 52 participants in Group B (elo 1700 - 2150), plus 40 participants in Group C (elo < 1750).
