15th Cultural Village, Wijk aan Zee
25.11.2010 The 15th Cultural Village Chess Tournament took place 15-24 November 2010 in The Netherlands, Wijk aan Zee, the city of Corus Chess, from 2011 Tata Steel Chess. Tournament set up: a 10 player Round-Robin. Basic intention: to offer (young) players the opportunity to achieve an IM or a GM norm. Time control: 90 minutes for the entire game plus 30 seconds a move. GM Dariusz Swiercz of Poland (7.0/9 points) won the tournament and an invitation to participate in Tata Steel Chess Group C 2011, next January. IM Sahaj Grover (India) and GM Oleksandr Sulypa (Ukraine) shared second place. IM Roeland Pruijssers, being the best Dutchman, won an invitation for Tata Steel Chess Group C 2011. Jeroen Van Den Berg (tournament director of both Cultural Village Chess Tournament and Tata Steel Chess Tournament) surprised Sahaj Grover by awarding him with an invitation to participate in Tata Steel Chess Group C 2012.
