Chess Olympiad Round 9

31.05.2006 Round 9 was played on Tuesday 30 May at 03.00 p.m. In the Men’s section leader Armenia (Aronian, Akopian, Asrian, Sargissian) defeated Ukraine (Ivanchuk, Karjakin, Elyanov, Moiseenko) 2,5-1,5. Armenia remains on top of the rank with 26,5 points. China (Bu, Zhang Z, Wang, Ni) jumped to second place (25,5) by crushing Georgia 4-0. Russia lost to France 1,5-2,5. Fressinet defeated Rublevsky. France (24 points) is third in the table. Russia, USA and Ukraine are on 23,5.

In the Women’s section China drew Russia. Ukraine is leading with 21,0. Russia is on 20,5 and third is Georgia with 19,0 points. China and Bulgaria are on 18,5.
