ChessVista.com is the website of chess photographer Frits Agterdenbos. The site provides the international chess community with high quality chess photos and chess news of chess players from international chess events. There will be visual reports and an album with chess photo collections showing all the visual aspects of the chess world.
13.01.2012 The opening ceremony of Tata Steel Chess 2012 took place on Friday 13 January in the Chess Pavilion in Wijk aan Zee. Dr Karl-Ulrich Köhler, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel Europe, officially opened the tournament in the Chess Pavilion (commentary hall) in Wijk aan Zee. Tournament director Jeroen Van Den Berg performed the drawing of lots.
Group A Round 1 Pairings: David Navara vs Veselin Topalov, Boris Gelfand vs Anish Giri, Teimour Radjabov vs Fabiano Caruana, Sergey Karjakin vs Levon Aronian, Hikaru Nakamura vs Vassily Ivanchuk, Magnus Carlsen vs Vugar Gashimov and Gata Kamsky vs Loek Van Wely.
Group B Round 1 Pairings: Dimitri Reinderman vs Alexander Motylev, Lazaro Bruzon vs Pentala Harikrishna, Kateryna Lahno vs Sipke Ernst, Dronavalli Harika vs Daniele Vocaturo, Viktorija Cmilyte vs Illya Nyzhnyk, Erwin L'Ami vs Sergey Tiviakov, and Jan Timman vs Vladimir Potkin.
Group C Round 1 Pairings: Matthew Sadler vs Pieter Hopman, Sachdev Tania vs Sahaj Grover, Elisabeth Paehtz vs Hans Tikkanen, Daan Brandenburg vs Lars Ootes, Baskaran Adhiban vs Anne Haast, Etienne Goudriaan vs Lisa Schut, and Elina Danielian vs Maxim Turov.
