Chess Olympiad Round 10
01.06.2006 Round 10 was played on Wednesday 31 May at 03.00 p.m. In the Men’s section number 1 Armenia (Aronian, Akopian, Asrian, Sargissian) boosted its position at the top defeating number 2 China (Bu, Zhang Z, Wang, Ni) 2,5-1,5. Akopian won, other games draw. Armenia is on 29 points, second is China with 27 points. Russia (Kramnik, Svidler, Grischuk, Bareev) climbed to third place in the table with 26,5 points (together with Czech Republic) after beating Ukraine (Ivanchuk, Volokitin, Karjakin, Efimenko) 3-1. Svidler and Bareev won, other games draw.
In the Women’s section Ukraine is leading with 23,0. Russia is on 22,5 and third is China with 20,5 points.
The night brought the Barmuda party. Thursday 1 June is the second rest day. There are three more rounds to go.
